About
Allie Duffy is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, an expert in movement analysis, and a certified Pilates instructor, comprehensively trained by Polestar Pilates. She graduated from the University of Connecticut as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2015, before moving to Boston to practice physical therapy with a specialization in outpatient orthopedics.
After finding many limitations with traditional exercise programs for herself, and her patients, Allie turned to Pilates for a new approach. She began training with the Polestar Pilates program as a rehabilitation provider, and has been teaching group classes and private lessons since 2016. She has worked with clients ranging from “weekend warriors” to professional athletes and has seen the transformative powers of Pilates in their movement efficiency.
After publishing a research paper on the importance of physical activity and fitness throughout the lifespan, Allie has continued to expand her clinical skills through advanced training in manual therapy, spinal manipulation techniques, and the importance of mindfulness in healing. Allie has taught numerous workshops to other healthcare providers on the applications of Pilates for Sports Medicine, including the Harvard Medical School Sports Medicine Conference.
After 5 years of practicing in the traditional healthcare setting, Allie decided to open The Pilates Rx to allow for more personalized attention with her clients, and to integrate the brilliance of Pilates for the modern athlete.
